The CHAT group provides opportunities for dialogue among researchers in the fields of later historical archaeology and the archaeology of the contemporary world. Our work is grounded in archaeology, but promotes interdisciplinary dialogue. Since its establishment in 2003, the group has held annual conferences, published conference proceedings, and hosted a lively mailing list for the circulation of information related to theory and practice in contemporary and historical archaeology internationally.

CONFERENCES

In November 2024, we invite you to join us in Plymouth, UK for activateCHAT. Hosted by Angela Piccini and Rachael Kiddey. The Call is open!

PUBLISH WITH CHAT

Since 2006, our specialist sub series from BAR Publishing has embraced all forms of theory in contemporary and historical archaeologies. We are committed to publishing writing that increases our understanding of how the past can be a mode through which values of equality, human rights, and social justice may be redefined to shape the present.
